Jug Wine

Here is a quick easy way to make cheap ass wine at home or in your dorm room!

Though it is not the sexiest way to do it, this still qualifies as a wine recipe.

You will need:

  • 2 cans frozen 100% grape juice concentrate
  • 1 gallon of filtered or purified water ( don’t use distilled, you will suffocate the yeast as there is no oxygen in it)
  • 3 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 package Lalvin 71B-1122 Yeast
  • 1 glass gallon jug or carboy ( you could go super ghetto with a milk jug just make sure it is clean.. )
  • 1 large balloon

What you do:

  1. Thaw the grape juice and put it in your sterilized jug.
  2. Dissolve the sugar into the water over medium heat in a saucepan, then let cool enough as to not burn your finger when you stick it in the water. This way you will be sure you don’t kill the yeast right off the bat.
  3. Add yeast to the grape juice in the jug and shake a little to mix it up.
  4. Using a funnel pour your sugar water mixture into the jug with the grape juice.
  5. Rinse out the inside of your balloon and then stretch it over your jug and tape it securely.
  6. Let sit for 30 days in a dark place like a closet or basement and then remove the balloon and carefully strain into another jug using a cheesecloth to catch the sediment.
  7. Drink it straight out of the jug.
